What is the role of spirituality in the recovery process? Need it become part of the recovering person's daily life, or is it one of many tools to be used to facilitate recovery? And what of the concept of God? Does that have to be a divine being or even something outside of ourselves; or are we able to use a "higher power" that originates from our own chosen origin. Can relationship be a spiritual path, or is that a rationalization for co-dependency? This workshop explores
these questions as well as the concept of spirituality in
the field of addictions, and our everyday lives. It will
address what spirituality is - and is not; the interplay
of spirituality and psychology; as well as the importance
of community and the therapist as community builder as
well as healer. Integrating spirituality into one's work
and how one can assist clients and others in accessing
their own spirituality will also be explored. An
important focal point of this workshop is the integration
of spirituality into the recovery process, our everyday
lives, and the importance spirituality can play in
prevention efforts, and in our physical and mental well
being. |
